moving in the general direction of success

Barbara hosted Language Lab Unleashed! #2 last night and had a great discussion with Todd Bryant and Barbara Ganley about using Skype for language learning. This time, we succeeded in capturing the audio feed (including the part in the middle where Skype crashed on the computer that was hosting everything – hoo-ray for editing!) and have posted it and what we managed to capture of the text chat to our other site. Maybe the third time will be the charm.

We’re also having a bit of an identity crisis: we have two blogs (this and the .com where the podcast info is) and at some point decided to use one for testing and yammering and blah-blah-blah and one for more official business like podcasts and announcements. But both Barbara and I have recently been questioning why we decided to do that, and whether it’s smart to separate those. Any suggestions?

This past week has been a bit of a conference overload for me…I’m getting really good ideas and participating in some great (and some horrifying) discussions about education and technology both in person and via the worldbridges trifecta that happened last night, but I’m beginning to realize the seemingly infinite number of paths educational technology provides, and I don’t know which way to go. (I want to take -all- the roads!) I keep reminding myself to put one foot in front of the other but that only works moderately well.

More to come from the Social Software Users’ Group…including a brief discussion of why humilitation really isn’t a good educational tool.
