Barbara Sawhill is the founder and lead writer for LLU, and has been writing here since 2005. She has been working for a small liberal arts college in the cornfields of Ohio for over 15 years. In addition to teaching Spanish she runs a somewhat unconventional language center. She is also the Spanish Language Education Coordinator for Radio Ambulante. Prior to her current adventures in higher ed she taught high school Spanish and loved it. She wishes she had more time in her life to write, read, swim, do yoga and watch the Red Sox. Ryan Brazell has been LLU’s webmaster and sometimes-contributor since 2005. He is currently an Academic Technology Consultant at the University of Richmond. Outside of the office, he volunteers in support of LGBTQ youth, adores the Great British Baking Show, and tries to remember that hitting the gym is a great form of #selfcare. He thinks constantly about the Eurovision Song Contest and how he can join a band. Given the time and mental space, he also writes on his own website.
Felix Kronenberg is working at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. His research interests include academic space design, video games and language learning, digital storytelling, and the culture of advertising. He teaches German and language pedagogy, and maintains the Language Technology Boot Camp blog and web site.
Doug Canfield has been running an “other-minded” language center down in the Tennessee Hills for about 8 years. A lapsed (recovering?) medievalist and French teacher, his passion now involves emerging research paradigms for exploring language instruction and learning, especially in virtual worlds. His goals include fostering the use of technology for instruction, communication, collaboration, and recreation. His alter ego sometimes blogs elsewhere.
