- Starting October 3rd (tomorrow!): LLU Live
When we started LLU Live last year, we picked Google+ Hangouts On Air (HOA) as the platform we’d be using. It was easy to use, easy to stream directly to YouTube, and recording was automatic. Over the last couple of weeks, though, we’ve noticed HOA has gotten both more complicated and less reliable, including failing to properly stream or record LLU Live #12 with Joe Dale. 🙁 This particular series is supposed to be low-key, and even though we’re all pretty adept with using new technologies, Google’s changes to the system (including the labyrinth visitors have to go through just to join an HOA) are taking more time and brainspace than we’d like to spend on the tech pieces.
So, join us for LLU Live #14, where we’ll be discussing alternative web-based video chat services. Bring your suggestions, and your experience! We’ll also be trying out a new service, Appear. In, that I heard about from a colleague. To join this week’s hangout, Thursday at 4pm EST / 9pm GMT, simply visit the LLU Live video conversation link in Chrome, Firefox, or Opera. There’s no software installation or account needed, although you may need to give your browser permission to access your camera and microphone.
We hope to see y’all Thursday at 4pm!
