LLU#22: After the Ellumination

Our international and tech-expansive conversations have come and gone, and now we have audio (but alas no video) files to share!

Here is the audio from our Elluminate session, hosted by the Knowledge Tree in Australia. This was a conversation that included the LLU Barbara, the bgblogging Barbara and (wait for it!) Barbara Lindsey from the University of Connecticut (and her graduate students) as well as readers and participants from Australia. The topic was the paper we wrote for the Knowledge Tree e- journal.

Our skypechat afterwards was much more informal, as all of our shows tend to be :-). We used our suite of free or inexpensive tools to make it happen. For me it was interesting to compare the “many pieces loosely joined” concept of webcasting that we use here at LLU and to have a chance to compare it to the proprietary, much more focused and directed way of communicating that Elluminate provides. I would be interested in hearing from others what their opinions are of this tool and if they use it what they find to be its strengths.

During (LLU#22), Barbara Lindsey (can you believe it, yet another Barbara!) from UConn came on to tell us about the course she created at UConn for graduate students that are planning to be FL teachers. The course focuses on new technologies and is meant to be a way for the students to review current tools and technologies while also using them… the course uses a blog as a means for students and faculty to share their thoughts and reflect on their practices.

Special thanks to LLU Barbara’s student and edublogger extraordinaire Sean for hanging in there and participating in BOTH webcasts. Great work, Sean!

Please let us know your thoughts!
