Still looking for balance

This summer, interspersed between our experimentations with Moodle for language learning, the Summer Leadership Meeting for IALLT, a workshop at Middlebury on using social software for language teaching, and BG, GeekyMom and my presentation at BlogHer, I have been helping my sister and my brother keep an eye on my parents in Maine as they recover from surgery and/or just deal with getting older and less mobile.

Meanwhile, back home, my husband is juggling the kids and the dogs and is totally outnumbered. Two kids three springer spaniels and John.

I was trolling the blogs during a rare moment of quiet here and revisted Kathy Sierra’s site. Kathy has a wonderful post about your graphics and the message they may or may not convey.

With my thanks to her, I am going to share a couple of images she created for that post, as I believe they aptly capture the chaos that my husband is trying to manage back home.

And when I find the graphics that convey how to deal with octegenarian parents…I will post those too.

No Springers!

    Dear Barbara:
I have checked you Blog Central several times and I find the experience great! Its one of the best experiences withblogs/ podcasting for language learning I´ve ever seen. I was thinking about podcasting assigmnets/projects with my students at Humbodlt University in Berlin.
I’m happy to hear you’re now testing Moodle. I teach my Spanish courses with Moodle and I find it extremly useful. Many tools as journals, wikis, chat, forums, test, are available in the same enviroment.
I’m now trying to desing courses with more student output in the Moodle site and I want to thank you for you wonderful blog. It’s really inspiring. Thanks your Blog Central I came to the idea not all conversation in a Learning Platform must be written. You can encorage students to post their own audio produtions.
Thank you very much for sharing job
    Victoria
