From today’s email from the friendly folks at LinkedIn: “People you know are not connected to you!” Gad-zooks! Heaven forfend!
Linked In has decided that because these people work where I work : a) I know them and b) I want to connect with them. Um, it doesn’t always work that way. Part of the charm of Linked In, I thought, was extending your networks outward…not circling them inward. Academic institutions can be inward looking on their very own…no need for social networking tools to help there. Or am I wrong?
